The German ISSN Centre started a project for assigning ISSN to print and digitized versions of long-dead serials The German ISSN Centre, hosted by the German National Library, has been requested by the University of Heidelberg to assign ISSN to print and digitized versions of long-dead serials. These serials, which cover the fields of fine arts and archeology, were originally published in a dozen different countries. The identification of the digitized versions is one the first applications of the policy for ISSN assignment to digital reproductions adopted by the ISSN Network at the end of 2011.
Release of the SUNCAT survey report 2013 Edina, partner of the ISSN International Centre for the Keepers project, has released the SUNCAT survey report 2013. The report confirms SUNCAT’s primary role as a centralised source of serials information and UK holdings, with 75% of responses stating, either locating serials and articles, or checking bibliographic information, as the primary purposes for using the service. Supplemental materials are increasingly being added to journal articles, but until now there has been no recognized set of practices to guide in the selection, delivery, discovery, and preservation of these materials.
