New presentation of the Keepers Registry at the IFLA Congress The two co-directors of the Keepers Registry, Peter Burnhill (EDINA, University of Edinburgh) and Françoise Pelle (ISSN International Centre / Centre International de l’ISSN, Paris) gave a presentation entitled: “Who is looking after your e-journals? Telling tales about the Keepers Registry and your digital shelves” at the 79th IFLA World Library and Information Congress held in Singapore 17th – 23rd August 2013. (Keepers Registry, 2013-08-28)

http://www.loc.gov/...The MARC Advisory Committee (MAC) was reconstituted in 2013 to continue the advisory role concerning MARC to the Library of Congress (LC), Library and Archives Canada (LAC), British Library (BL), and Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (DNB) (the MARC Steering Group) and to assume the role of a forum for broad and open discussion of standards used for representation of bibliographic data in machine-readable form. Presentation of the PRESSoo model during the IFLA Conference in Singapore The version 0.1 of the PRESSoo model has been presented to the FRBR Review Group during the last IFLA Conference held in Singapore in August. The FRBR Review Group welcomed this initiative and agreed to discuss a possible incorporation of this model into the FRBRoo model. PRESSoo will be presented in October to the CIDOC CRM Special Interest Group, co-author of FRBRoo with the FRBR Review Group.
https://www.issn.org/...PRESSoo is an extension of the FRBRoo model (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records – Object Oriented) devoted to the bibliographic information relating to serials and continuing resources. It has been developed by a working group made up by representatives of the ISSN International Centre and of the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) so as to propose answers to long standing issues with the application of the FRBR family of models to serials and continuing resources. Next ISSN Directors' meeting in Bucharest The next ISSN Directors’ meeting will be held in Bucharest (Romania), from October 21 to 25, 2013, at the kind invitation of the National Library of Romania. NISO and UKSG Release Draft Revised Recommendations for Knowledge Bases and Related Tools (KBART) for Public Comment NISO and UKSG announce the release of a draft for public comment of a revision to the Knowledge Bases and Related Tools (KBART) Recommended Practice. Issued in 2010, the original recommended practice provided with straightforward guidance about metadata formatting to ensure the exchange of accurate metadata between content providers and knowledge base developers.(NISO, 2013-09-05)

| How much does it cost to publish in Open Access? Data obtained by the consultancy firm Outset based in California, USA, suggests that the publishing industry generated revenues of US$ 9.4 billion in 2011 and published somewhere in the region of 1.8 million articles. Using these figures, this gives an average cost of US$ 5,000 per article. What are the different practices? Are they sustainable and profitable in the Open Access universe? There is the appearance of disruption (e.g., most journals are now electronic), but the business continues to proceed as it has for a couple decades or more.
