Since the launch of ROAD, the ISSN marked as assigned to Open Access scholarly resources in the ISSN Register are systematically matched against the coverage lists provided by indexing/abstracting databases, registries and journal indicators. The matching is made thanks to the ISSN numbers. ISSN records are automatically completed by the mention « covered by » or by indicators when the matching is positive.

CAB Abstracts, Global Health, ATLA Religion Database and ATLA Catholic Periodical and Literature Index have been added to the list of ROAD data sources which now brings to 15 the total number of sources: EconLit, PsycINFO®, Scopus, Catalogo (Latindex), DOAJ, The Keepers Registry, SJR, SNIP, CAB Abstracts, Global Health, Linguistics Abstracts, MEDLINE®, PubMed Central® (PMC), ATLA Religion Database and ATLA Catholic Periodical and Literature Index.

The ISSN International Centre and the members of the ISSN Network are proud to work with these services whose participation in ROAD is essential.

CAICYT (Centro Argentino de Información Científica y Tecnológica / Argentine Center of Scientific and Technological Information) has been sponsoring and hosting from 2013 regular meetings devoted to aspects of information and scholarly publishing. This year’s conference series focuses on data repositories and platforms, with a focus on scientific and technological institutions. This issue arises from the opportunities and challenges that open from the law of institutional open access digital repositories, and the international breakthrough both for open access to scientific publications and technical data.

Update on the Europeana Newspapers Project: goals, new features, new partners, etc.

A group of professionals from libraries, content providers and OCLC have published « Success Strategies for Electronic Content Discovery and Access ».

This document identifies data quality issues in the content supply chain and offers practical recommendations for improved usage, discovery and access of e-content in libraries.

This international, multi-stakeholder working group will develop a strategy to ensure greater interoperability across repository networks and other platforms. The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) will be the convener of the working group, and the Consortia Advancing Standards in Research Administration Information (CASRAI) will facilitate the process of developing the strategy. Members of the working group will be representatives from major regional repository networks, EuroCRIS and CASRAI, and will be committed to adopting the outcomes.

These guidelines address the specific needs related to planning digitization projects for rare and special collections.

At the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) in Lyon this summer, the UNESCO session was spent on the problem of selection in digital heritage. It is one of the challenging subjects within the PERSIST project, an initiative of UNESCO, ICA, IFLA and other partners, that tries to enhance the sustainability of digital heritage.

The majority of the metadata in the German Union Catalogue of Serials (ZDB) have been available under « Creative Commons Zero (CC0 1.0) » conditions since June 2014. This means that roughly 1.7 million bibliographic data in all languages and with no time restrictions have been approved for further use along with more than 13 million library ownership data. The approval explicitly includes commercial use.
