Gaëlle Béquet, Director of the ISSN International Centre, will chair the 2019 ISO TC46 Annual Meeting hosted by Library and Archives Canada/Bibliothèque et Archives Canada. The program includes a meeting of ISO TC46/SC9/WG5 experts who will discuss the outcomes of the 2019 DIS ballot regarding the ISSN standard ISO 3297.
The ISSN International Centre has selected the UK-based company CiberResearch to carry out an advisory mission on the definition of its strategy for the next five years.
Nathalie Cornic, Head of Metadata and Technical Coordination of the ISSN Network Department, will participate in ICEDIS meeting and deliver a presentation on the new ISSN portal.
As usual, EDItEUR and ICEDIS hold a meeting on serials standards and related topics on the final day of the UKSG Annual Conference and Exhibition. This meeting will held on Wednesday 10th April 2019, from 1.15pm to 4.00pm in the Wenlock 2 room of the Telford International Centre. In addition to discussion of ONIX-PC, ONIX for Books, Thema and other standards managed by EDItEUR, a wider look will be taken at related standards initiatives and recent developments in persistent identifiers and open linked data.

The ISSN has been added to the directory of identifiers managed by EMBL-EBI on identifiers.org. The compact form of the ISSN identifier is ISSN: 1234-5678. The N2T resolver on identifiers.org refers to the ISSN portal page where the publication record is available.
Supported by the National Library of Iran, the Iranian ISSN Center organized a training workshop for 30 representatives of Iranian journal publishers on November 20th, 2018. During this one-day workshop, the staff of ISSN Iran and local journal publishers discussed the latest issues concerning the international and national regulations of ISSN assignment, the launch of ISSN new Portal and its free services to publishers, and information about OA resources provided in ROAD.
The ISSN IC published on Friday, December 21st, 2018 a “Request For Information” concerning the development of a new ISSN production tool.
Companies interested in the ISSN+ project will send to the ISSN IC an application file, the content of which is presented in the attached document. Based on the criteria outlined in the RFI, ISSN IC will then retain several candidates and will forward to them detailed specifications. The RFI can be downloaded here.

As the first and single entry point for the identification of all kinds of print and digital serials and other continuing resources (retail, educational and scholarly), the ISSN International Centre and the ISSN Network are the cornerstone of a wider system including the publishing industry, the distribution and retail industry, libraries, scholars and readers.
This consultancy mission will provide guidance to set up the new strategy of the ISSN International Centre for years 2020-2024.

A ballot on the next version of the ISO 3297 standard has just been launched by ISO. The national standard-setting organizations of TC46/SC9 Information and documentation – Identification and description member countries are required to submit their votes and comments to ISO before March 27th, 2019.
