The ISSN International Centre participates in the congress of the Association internationale francophone des bibliothécaires et documentalistes (AIFBD) (Brussels, 16-19 August 2023)

The ISSN International Centre is a sponsor of the AIFBD congress, which will take place from 16 to 19 August 2023 in Brussels. The conference theme is « Access to information at the heart of development: the case for libraries and documentation centres ». Gaëlle Béquet, Director of the ISSN International Centre, will deliver a presentation entitled « How to use the ISSN portal to check the conservation status of your digital journals ». The ISSN International Centre @ IFLA WLIC 2023 (21-25 August, Rotterdam, The Netherlands)

The ISSN International Centre will exhibit at Booth n°A6 during the 88th IFLA World Library and Information Congress. Gaelle Bequet, Director of the ISSN International Centre, will give a presentation entitled “Managing your digital archiving policy with Keepers Registry” at the Expo Pavilion on August 22nd, 2023 (12:00-12:45). ISSN Romania presented ROAD at the Association of Romanian Librarians’ annual meeting

On 18 May 2023, ABR (Association of Romanian Librarians) organized its annual professional meetings. For the Serials Section, the theme was Processing and managing serials and other continuing resources – good practice and perspectives. Aurelia Perșinaru and Adina Patriche participated in this meeting with a presentation entitled ROAD – Instrument for Promotion of Open Access Continuing Scholarly Resources.

The presentation aimed to provide a clear picture of what an open-access resource is now, what are the requirements for a resource to be enrolled in ROAD and other useful information about quality management. The topics were: how to promote ROAD and enhance its visibility among Romanian beneficiaries, how to manage continuing resources in ROAD, with a specific focus on ensuring their quality (content and editorial requirements).

The meeting was an excellent platform to disseminate information about ROAD and its objectives, as well as to discuss methods for promoting and effectively managing Romanian open-access continuing scholarly resources.

Presentation about Persistent Identifiers at the 52th Conference ACURIL and ISSN at the National Library of Jamaica (June 2023)

At the 52nd ACURIL conference held in Kingston, Jamaica, Gaelle Bequet, Director of the ISSN International Centre, was invited as keynote speaker to present a paper on identifiers and open science on June 6, 2023. She was also received by Ms Beverly Lashley, Director of the National Library of Jamaica, and Ms Maxine Jones, Head of the Jamaican ISSN Center.

The ISSN International Centre supports the organization of the 50th meeting of ISO Technical Committee 46 (Paris, 22-26 May 2023)

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 46 Information and Documentation will meet from 22 to 26 May 2023 in Paris. The ISSN International Centre, which participates in the work of the committee, is helping to organize an event that will bring together experts from national delegations. They will visit the National Archives and the National Library of France (Richelieu Building). A reception will be held at the end of the day so that participants can enjoy French hospitality.

ICSTI welcomes the Brazilian Institute of  Information in Science and Technology (IBICT)

The ISSN International Centre is participating in the ACURIL Annual Conference (Kingston, Jamaica, 4-8 June 2023)

The Association of Caribbean University, Research, and Institutional Libraries has chosen the theme Innovation: Opportunities and Challenges in Caribbean Libraries, Museums, and Archives for its annual conference, which is being held in Kingston, Jamaica, June 4-8, 2023. Gaëlle Béquet, Director of the ISSN International Centre, has been invited to present a paper on the role of identifiers in open science. The conference programme is available.

The ISSN International Centre is participating in Knowledge Exchange Webinar on Persistent Identifiers (15-16 CEST, 23 May 2023)

In early 2023, Knowledge Exchange published a report on persistent identifiers that focuses on the requirements for a reliable infrastructure for the dissemination of research results at the international level. The webinar on 23 May 2023 will be moderated by Pablo de Castro, author of the report and librarian at the University of Strathclyde, and Gaëlle Béquet, Director of the International ISSN Centre. The webinar is free with registration.
